FAIRFIELD, NJ — Claremont Distillery played host to more than 30 members of the North Essex Chamber of Commerce (NECC) on Thursday for a summer member social sponsored by Kearny Bank.
Drinks were on special all night and food was free to members and non-members who took advantage of the relaxed networking opportunity. According to Barbara Ruiz, NECC vice president of membership, this was the first event hosted by Claremont Distillery, which supports the NECC by attending its Taste of Essex each year. Guests also enjoyed tours of the distillery throughout the event.
“We just wanted to show the love to them because they always come and support us at our Taste of Essex,” said Ruiz. “We figured it was a fun, cool place to have a member social where it’s laid back, relaxed and we can have some fun.”
Ruiz said because it was a summer event, the member social attracted more than double the typical number of guests. She was also excited to see a lot of new faces, as the quarterly NECC member socials invite potential new members as well.
“That’s what I like about the member socials because they’re relaxed and it’s not forced networking,” she said. “We break down the barriers with the member socials because they’re relaxed and you can get to know people more on a personal level. At the end of the day, we all do business with people we know, like and trust, so if you want to start building those relationships, come to these socials.”
